Aniseikonia

Aniseikonia (aniseiconia; Greek anisos – unequal + Greek eikon – the image) – inequality of sizes of images of the same subject on a retina of the left and right eye; it is shown in the form of difficulties when reading, disturbances of perception of space ratios, increased fatigue of sight.

Allocate:

  • The aniseikonia optical (aniseiconia optica) – is caused by distinctions of a refraction of the left and right eye;
  • The aniseikonia functional (aniseiconia functionalis) – develops because of discrepancy of an arrangement of visual elements in a retina of two eyes or their projection in bark of cerebral hemispheres (visual areas).
