Nitrogen

Nitrogen (Nitrogenium; N; Greek and - – otritsa. zoe – life is frequent +) – chemical element V of group of periodic system of D. I. Mendeleyev with atomic mass (is powerful) – 14,007; atomic number – 7. In live organisms nitrogen is a part of proteins and their derivatives. In a molecular form (N2) is a gas which makes 78% of volume of the terrestrial atmosphere.

Allocate:

  • Protein nitrogen – nitrogen which is a part of proteins. The term is applied to quantitative definition of protein in biological substrates;
  • Nitrogen amine (synonym: amino nitrogen) – nitrogen which is a part of the amino acids which are contained in the studied substrate. Increase in content of nitrogen amine in urine and blood of the person is a sign of disturbance of mochevinoobrazovatelny function of a liver;
  • Residual nitrogen (synonym: nitrogen protein-free, nonprotein nitrogen) – nitrogen which is a part of nonprotein nitrogenous substances of blood, muscles and other fabrics. Change of content in blood serum of residual nitrogen demonstrates disturbance of a nitrogen metabolism in an organism.
