Vagisection

Vagisection (vagotomia; anatomic nervus vagus – a vagus nerve + Greek tome – a section, a section) – the surgery applied to treatment of a peptic ulcer at which crossing of a vagus nerve or its some branches is carried out.

Types of vagisection:

  • The selection (selectiva; synonym: vagisection selective) – the vagisection which is carried out with crossing of all gastric branches of a vagus nerve except for those which lie to an abdominal brain and a liver; it is carried out below an esophageal opening of a diaphragm;
  • Selection proximal (selectiva proximalis) – vagisection the selection at which make crossing of branches of a vagus nerve only to upper parts of a stomach;
  • Trunk (truncularis; synonym: vagisection trunkular) – vagisection at which make crossing of vagal trunks to their branching over a diaphragm; causes denervation of all bodies located in an abdominal cavity.

Whether you know that:

In Great Britain there is a law according to which the surgeon can refuse to do to the patient operation if he smokes or has excess weight. The person has to refuse addictions, and then, perhaps, he will not need an operative measure.
