Timololum
Application instruction:
Timololum concerns to group of beta adrenoblockers and protivoglaukomny medicines. Drug quickly normalizes the increased intraocular pressure, removes spasms of eye muscles 
and promotes sight recovery.
Structure and form of release
The main active ingredient – Timololum of 2,5 - 5 mg.
Auxiliary components: chloride a benzalkoniya, dihydrosodium phosphate, the purified water.
Timololum is issued in the form of eye drops and gel for external use.
Pharmacological action of Timololum
Timololum is the antiinflammatory and hypotensive drug used for treatment of eye diseases. It reduces amount of liquid, promoting its outflow from eyes.
At system reception of Timololum visual acuity and visual perception in day and night time of day improves. The medical effect is shown within 30 minutes after a drug instillation. Therapeutic action continues within 20-24 hours.
During treatment it is regularly necessary to measure intraocular pressure and to check visual acuity.
Timololum received good comments as effective drug for preventing to the degenerative processes of eyes reducing sight.
Indications to use of Timololum
Timololum is appointed for treatment of glaucoma of open-angle and closed-angle type, inborn glaucoma, intraocular hypertensia, spasms of visual muscles.

Timololum analogs
Timololum analogs possessing similar pharmacological actions are Pilocarpinum, Azopt, Fotil, Ksalatan, Betoptik and Okumed. These drugs effectively reduce intraocular pressure and treat glaucoma of various type.
Application instruction
According to the instruction it is necessary to dig in Timololum in a conjunctive bag on 1-2 drops 2 times a day. The attending physician can increase a drug dosage to 3 drops of 0,5% of solution 2 times a day.
For prevention and maintenance of normal intraocular pressure it is necessary to dig in 0,25% Timololum solution 2 times a day on 1 drop in each eye.
According to the instruction children cannot appoint Timololum up to 10 years, and to children of 10-14 years appoint on 2 drops 0,25% of solution of 1 times a day.
During treatment the patients managing vehicles and who are engaged in activity at bad illumination should observe special attention. Drug can temporarily dull attention and obscure sight.
At long reception of Timololum it is necessary to control integrity of a cornea of an eye, a condition of pupils and to measure intraocular pressure.
Contraindications
Contraindications to purpose of Timololum are hypersensitivity and intolerance of components of drug, dystrophic diseases of eyes, hypotension, a myasthenia, pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding, children's age up to 10 years, rhinitis, a diabetes mellitus.
With care drug is appointed at cerebrovascular insufficiency, a hypoglycemia and at advanced age.
Side effects of Timololum
Timololum can cause the following side effects:
- chorotype – the raised photosensitivity, obtusion of attention, a look zatumanennost, cornea hypostasis, a conjunctiva hyperemia, burning in eyes, dacryagogue, a blepharitis, a keratitis, a ptosis;
- system type – rhinitis, bleeding from a nose, paresthesia, a collapse, a sharp lowering of arterial pressure, bradycardia, a headache and dizziness, an asthma, increased fatigue, a depression, hallucinations, vomiting, diarrhea, pulmonary insufficiency.
At long reception of Timololum allergic reactions – urticaria, dermatitis, a bronchospasm, skin rash can appear.
