Azithromycin
Application instruction:
Azithromycin is an antibacterial agent of a broad spectrum of activity.
Form of release and structure
Azithromycin belongs to antibiotics of group of macroleads. Active ingredient of drug carries the same name. Is the representative of azaleads.
Is issued in the following dosage forms:
- The capsules containing 250 mg of azithromycin;
- Tablets, film coated, on 125 mg, 250 mg and 500 mg;
Excipients:
- Sugar milk (lactose);
- MKTS;
- PVP low-molecular medical (povidone);
- Magnesium stearate;
- Silicon dioxide colloid (aerosil).
Indications to use
Azithromycin is active concerning some gram-positive cocci, streptococci of the CF and G groups, gram-negative bacteria, anaerobic microorganisms. Chlamydias, a mycoplasma, an ureaplasma, a treponema, Borreliya's spirochete are sensitive to an antibiotic.
Drug does not exert impact on the gram-positive bacteria steady against erythromycin.
Use of azithromycin is reasonable at diseases which are caused by microorganisms, sensitive to it. Infections concern to them:
- Upper respiratory tracts – quinsies, sinusitis, tonsillitis, otitises;
- Lower parts of a thorax – pneumonia, bronchitis;
- Soft tissues and integuments – impetigo, an ugly face, a dermatosis;
- Urinary tract – uretrita, tservitsita.
Purpose of this antibacterial agent is also justified at an initial stage of a disease of Lyme.
Contraindications
Azithromycin is contraindicated to persons with hypersensitivity to macroleads. With care drug is appointed to patients with disturbances of functions of a liver and kidneys.
Route of administration and dosage
According to the instruction to Azithromycin, before treatment it is necessary to check sensitivity to it of the microflora which caused a disease.
Tablets or capsules accept inside once a day, for an hour to food or in two hours after it.
At respiratory infection, integuments and soft tissues the adult appoint 0,5 g in the first day and on 0,25 g in the next days (from 2 to 5 days). The scheme of reception on 0,5 g within 3 days is also possible.
For treatment of a disease Lyme (borreliosis) in an initial stage Azithromycin is appointed on 1 g in the first day, then on 0,5 g.
The dosage for children is defined with body weight. If the child's weight more than 10 kg, then in the first day appoint 10 mg/kg of body weight, and then on 5 mg/kg, or 3 days on 10 mg/kg.
It is necessary to accept the passed dose as soon as possible, and the subsequent – with a break at 24 o'clock.
The antibiotic is steady against acid medium and is well soaked up from a GIT. Easily gets into skin, soft tissues, respiratory tracts and fabrics of urinogenital system.
High concentration of active agent in the place of an inflammation provides permanent bactericidal action which remains 5-7 days after reception of the last accepted dose. It caused the small duration of a course of treatment (3 and 5 days).
If co-administration of antiacid means, then, according to the instruction to Azithromycin is supposed, the interval between administration of drugs has to make not less than 2 hours.
Side effects
From use of Azithromycin treat side effects:
- Vomiting;
- Nausea;
- Meteorism;
- Temporary increase in activity of enzymes of a liver.
In rare instances skin rash can be observed.
Special instructions
Use of an antibiotic at pregnancy is not recommended, except for cases when the expected advantage for mother exceeds potential risk for the child.
For the period of treatment by drug it is necessary to stop breastfeeding.
