Biltritsid – protivogelmintny medicine.

Structure and form of release

Biltritsid release in the form of tablets, film coated. The main active ingredient of each tablet are 600 mg of a prazikvantel. Auxiliary components of drug: microcrystallic cellulose, corn starch, sodium lauryl sulfate, titanium dioxide, macrogoal 4000, magnesium stearate, gipromelloza, povidone.

Pharmacological action of Biltritsid

Biltritsid according to the instruction is protivogelmintny drug which promotes increase in permeability of membranes of cells of helminths for calcium ions. It, in turn, stimulates generalized reduction of muscles of parasites and stops glucose capture by cells of helminths. At the same time Biltritsid's use reduces the level of a glycogen and stimulates release of compounds of lactic acid that leads of parasites to death. The praziquantel is specifically active concerning cestodes and trematodes.

Indications to Biltritsid's use

According to the instruction Biltritsid appoint for treatment of the infections caused by various types shistosy (Schistosoma mekongi, Schistosoma intercalatum, Schistosoma haematobium, Schistosoma japonicum, Schistosoma mansoni), and also caused by hepatic flukes (Opistorchis viverrini, Clonorchis sinensis) and pulmonary flukes (Paragonimus westermani).

Contraindications

Biltritsid's use is contraindicated in the following cases:

• Hypersensitivity to the main thing or auxiliary components of drug;
• Children's age up to four years;
• In a combination with rifampicin;
• Cysticercosis of eyes.

• Once on 40 mg/kg of weight at the infections caused by Schistosoma haematobium;
• On 20 mg/kg twice a day or 40 mg/kg of weight once at the infections caused by Schistosoma intercalatum and Schistosoma mansoni;
• On 30 mg/kg of weight twice a day or 60 mg/kg once at the infections caused by Schistosoma japonicum, Schistosoma mekongi;
• On 25 mg/kg of weight three times a day for 1-3 days at the infections caused by Clonorchis sinensis, Opisthorchis viverrini, Paragonimus westermani.

Biltritsid's use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

According to reviews Biltritsid is not recommended to appoint in the first trimester of pregnancy. As the praziquantel gets into breast milk, for Biltritsid's reception breastfeeding is recommended to be suspended, and also the next days after the end of administration of drug.

Side effects

At Biltritsid's combination with the medicines inhibiting enzymes of a liver of system of P450 cytochrome, concentration of a prazikvantel can increase, on the contrary, in a blood plasma.

Simultaneous use of Biltritsid and chloroquine leads to decrease in level of a prazikvntel in a blood plasma.
