Are a part of 1 tablet:

Active agent: a haloperidol – 1; 1,5; 2; 5 or 10 mg;
Auxiliary components: potato starch, monohydrate of lactose (milk sugar), medical gelatin, talc, magnesium stearate.

For injections are a part of 1 ml of solution:

Active agent: a haloperidol – 5 mg;
Auxiliary components: lactic acid; water for injections.

Indications to use

Chronic and acute psychotic frustration, including schizophrenia, epileptic, maniac-depressive and alcoholic psychoses;
Psychomotor excitement, hallucinations and nonsense of various genesis;
Chorea of Gentington;
The agitated depression;
Oligophrenia;
Stutter;
Disorders of behavior at children's and advanced age (including children's autism and hyperreactivity at children);
Turett's disease;
Hiccups and vomiting (it is long remaining and showing resistance to therapy);
Psychosomatic disturbances;
Nausea and vomiting when carrying out chemotherapy (treatment and prevention).

Contraindications

The heavy toxic oppression of the central nervous system caused by medicines;
The diseases of the central nervous system which are followed by symptoms of extrapyramidal frustration, hysteria, a depression, a coma of various etiology;
Pregnancy and period of a lactation;
Children's age up to 3 years;
Hypersensitivity to components of drug and other derivatives of phenyl propyl ketone.

The haloperidol should be applied with care at the following diseases / states:

Closed-angle glaucoma;
Epilepsy;
Cardiovascular diseases with the phenomena of a decompensation, disturbance of conductivity of a myocardium, increase in an interval of QT or risk of increase in an interval of QT (including a hypopotassemia and simultaneous use with medicines which can increase QT interval);
Renal and/or liver failure;
Respiratory and a pulmonary heart, including the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and acute infectious diseases;
Thyrotoxicosis;
Alcoholism;
Prostate hyperplasia with an ischuria;
Simultaneous use with anticoagulants.

Route of administration and dosage

Pill is taken inside, in 30 min. prior to food. An adult single initial dose – 0,5-5 mg, frequency rate of reception – 2-3 times a day. For patients of advanced age the single dose should not exceed 2 mg.

Depending on reaction of patients to the carried-out therapy, a dose gradually increase, as a rule, up to 5-10 mg a day. Higher doses (more than 40 mg a day) are applied in some cases in the absence of associated diseases and during short time.

To children usually the dose is calculated proceeding from body weight – 0,025-0,075 mg/kg a day in 2-3 receptions.

At intramuscular introduction of the Haloperidol the adult initial single dose varies from 1 to 10 mg, the interval between repeated injections can make 1-8 hours.

For intravenous administration the Haloperidol appoint 0,5-50 mg in a single dose, a dose at repeated introduction and the frequency of use are defined by indications and a clinical situation.

The maximum daily doses for adults at intake and for intramuscular introduction – 100 mg a day.

Side effects

During therapy development of disturbances from some systems of an organism is possible:

Cardiovascular system: at use of a haloperidol in high doses – tachycardia, arterial hypotension, arrhythmia, changes of the electrocardiogram (ECG), including signs of trembling, ventricular fibrillation and increase in an interval of QT;
Central nervous system: sleeplessness, a headache, a condition of concern, feeling of alarm and fear, excitement, drowsiness (especially at the beginning of therapy), an akathisia, euphoria or a depression, an epilepsy attack, a lethargy, development of paradoxical reaction (a hallucination, an exacerbation of psychosis); at long treatment – extrapyramidal frustration, including late dyskinesia, late dystonia and a malignant antipsychotic syndrome;
Alimentary system: at use of drug in high doses – diarrhea or a lock, dryness in a mouth, a loss of appetite, a hypoptyalism, vomiting, nausea, functional disturbances of a liver up to development of jaundice;
Endocrine system: disturbances of a menstrual cycle, pain in chest glands, a gynecomastia, a giperprolaktinemiya, increase in a libido, decrease in a potentiality, a priapism;
System of a hemopoiesis: seldom – an agranulocytosis, a leukocytosis, a temporary and easy leukopenia, a tendency to a monocytosis and an insignificant erythropenia;
Organ of sight: retinopathy, cataract, disturbances of visual acuity and accommodation;
Metabolism: peripheral hypostases, hyper - and a hypoglycemia, the increased sweating, a hyponatremia, increase in body weight;
Dermatological reactions: akneobrazny and makulopapulezny skin changes; seldom – an alopecia, a photosensitization;
Allergic reactions: seldom – skin rash, a laryngospasm, a bronchospasm, a hyper pyrexia;
The effects caused by cholinergic action: a hypoptyalism, dryness in a mouth, a lock, an ischuria.

Special instructions

Parenteral use of drug for children is not recommended.

Patients of advanced age usually need a smaller initial dose and slower selection of dosing. The increased probability of development of extrapyramidal disturbances is characteristic of these patients. In time to reveal precursory symptoms of late dyskinesia, careful control of a condition of patients is recommended.

At development of late dyskinesia it is necessary to reduce gradually a dose of the Haloperidol and to appoint other medicine.

There is emergence given about an opportunity during therapy of symptoms of not diabetes mellitus, an exacerbation of glaucoma, at prolonged treatment – a tendency to development of a limfomonotsitoz.

At treatment by neuroleptics development of a malignant antipsychotic syndrome perhaps at any time, but most often it arises soon after the beginning of use of drug or after transfer of the patient from one neuroleptic on another, after increase in a dose or during a combination therapy with other psychotropic drug.

During use of the Haloperidol it is necessary to refuse alcohol intake.

During therapy it is not necessary to be engaged in potentially dangerous types of activity requiring the high speed of psychomotor reactions and the strengthened attention.

Medicinal interaction

At simultaneous use of the Haloperidol with some medicines it is necessary to consider possible effects of such interaction:

The drugs having the oppressing effect on the central nervous system (CNS), ethanol: respiratory depression and hypotensive action, strengthening of a depression of TsNS;
Anticonvulsants: change of frequency and/or type of epileptiform attacks, and also reduction of concentration of a haloperidol in a blood plasma;
The drugs causing extrapyramidal reactions: increase in weight and frequency of extrapyramidal effects;
Tricyclic antidepressants (including desipramine): reduction of their metabolism, increase in risk of development of spasms;
Anti-hypertensive means: potentiation of action of a haloperidol;
Medicines with anticholinergic activity: strengthening of anticholinergic effects;
Beta adrenoblockers (including propranolol): development of the expressed arterial hypotension;
Indirect anticoagulants: reduction of their effect;
Lithium salts: development of more expressed extrapyramidal symptoms;
Venlafaksin: increase in concentration of a haloperidol in a blood plasma;
Imipenem: development of tranzitorny arterial hypertension;
Guanetidin: reduction of its hypotensive action;
Isoniazid: increase in its concentration in a blood plasma;
Indometacin: confusion of consciousness, drowsiness;
Rifampicin, Phenytoinum, phenobarbital: reduction of concentration of a haloperidol in a blood plasma;
Methyldopum: confusion of consciousness, sedative action, dementia, depression, dizziness;
Carbamazepine: increase in speed of metabolism of a haloperidol. Manifestation of symptoms of a neurotoxicity is possible;
Levodopa, перголид: decrease in their therapeutic action;
Quinidine: increase in concentration of a haloperidol in a blood plasma;
Morphine: development of a myoclonus;
Tsizaprid: lengthening of an interval of QT on an ECG;
Fluoxetine: development of extrapyramidal symptoms and dystonia;
Fluvoksamin: the increase in concentration of a haloperidol in a blood plasma which is followed by toxic action;
Epinephrinum: "perversion" of its pressor action that leads to development of tachycardia and heavy arterial hypotension.
