Гельминтокс – protivogelmintny means.

Form of release and structure

• Tablets, film coated: oblong shape, yellow-orange color, with risky on one of the parties; on cross section the kernel of citreous color is visible (125 mg – on 6 pieces in the blister, 1 blister in a cardboard pack; 250 mg – on 3 pieces in the blister, 1 blister in a cardboard pack);
• Suspension for intake: homogeneous (loss of a deposit is possible, after agitation suspension becomes homogeneous), light yellow color, with a characteristic smell (on 15 ml in dark glass bottles, 1 bottle in a cardboard pack complete with a measured spoon).

Active ingredient: Pyrantelum (in the form of an embonat):

• 1 tablet – 125 or 250 mg;
• 1 ml of suspension – 50 mg.

Additional components of tablets:

• Excipients: sodium carboxymethylstarch, starch corn prezhelatinizirovanny, magnesium stearate;
• Structure of a cover: talc, Sepifilm 002 (macrogoal 400th monostearate, methylhydroxypropyl cellulose, gipromelloza), Sepispers of AP3065 yellow (titanium dioxide (E171), propylene glycol, dye sunset yellow (E110)).

Suspension excipients: lecithin soy, Natrium benzoicum, magnesium aluminosilicate, polysorbate 80, sorbitol crystallized, поливидон, глицерол, the silicone emulsion, citric acid, water purified fragrance blackcurrant and caramel.

Indications to use

• Ankilostomidoz;
• Enterobiosis;
• Ascaridosis.

Contraindications

Absolute:

• Liver failure;
• Myasthenia;
• Lactation;
• Children's age up to 6 years – for tablets;
• Hypersensitivity to drug.

Гельминтокс it is necessary to apply about care at treatment of children aged up to 6 months, and also patients with liver diseases.

During pregnancy drug can be appointed only after careful comparison of the expected advantage and potential risks.

Route of administration and dosage

Drug is intended for oral administration. The bottle with suspension just before reception needs to be shaken up.

Гельминтокс appoint once. It is possible to accept it at any time, regardless of meals, without preliminary reception of laxatives.

At an ascaridosis and an enterobiosis appoint 12,5 mg/kg of body weight:

• Adults with body weight more than 75 kg: 8 measured spoons (l m.) suspensions, 8 tablets 125 mg or 4 tablets of 250 mg;
• Adults with body weight less than 75 mg: 6 m of l. suspensions, 6 tablets 125 mg or 3 tablets of 250 mg;
• Children are more senior than 6 years: 1 m of l. suspensions on 10 kg of body weight or 1 tablet of 125 mg on 10 kg of weight;
• Children are younger than 6 years: 1 m of l. suspensions on 10 kg of body weight.

For prevention of repeated infection in 3 weeks Gelmintoks's reception is recommended to be repeated.

In endemia zones to patients with infections of Necator americanus and heavy infections of Ankylostoma duodenale appoint on 25 mg/kg of body weight in 1-2 receptions, a course 2-3 days. The recommended daily doses:

• Adults with body weight more than 75 mg – 2000 mg;
• Adults with body weight less than 75 mg – 1500 mg;
• Children – 250 mg on each 10 kg of weight.

In case of Ankylostoma duodenale infection out of zones of an endemia of Gelmintoks appoint 12,5 mg/kg once (because of easier course of a disease).

Side effects

• Alimentary system: sometimes – an abdominal pain, nausea and/or vomiting, appetite loss, diarrhea (these symptoms are caused preferential by death of helminths), short-term slight increase of activity of hepatic transaminases;
• Central and peripheral nervous system: sleeplessness or drowsiness, paresthesias, dizziness, headache, hearing disorder, feeling of fatigue, confusion of consciousness, hallucination;
• Allergic reactions: small tortoiseshell, dieback, itch;
• Others: hyperthermia.

Special instructions

The patient has to be warned that in order to avoid repeated infection it is necessary to follow rules of hygiene strictly: to carefully wash hands, to clean and cut nails, to daily change the lower and bed linen, not to allow combing of area of a crotch.

It is recommended to carry out treatment of all family members at the same time.

After the termination of a course of therapy it is necessary to conduct a control research a calla on existence of eggs of helminths.

Medicinal interaction

It is not recommended to apply at the same time piperazin, levamisole.

In case of the combined use Pyrantelum promotes increase in concentration of theophylline in a blood plasma.

Terms and storage conditions

To store at a temperature up to 25 ºC. To protect from children. Not to allow influence of light and moisture.

Period of validity – 3 years.
