Lopedium
Application instruction:
Lopedium – the drug used for a symptomatic treatment of diarrhea.
Form of release and structure
Lopedium release in two dosage forms:
- Capsules: firm gelatinous, with the gray case and a lid of dark green color; contents of capsules – white homogeneous powder (in blisters on 10 pieces, on 1-3, 5 blisters in a cardboard pack);
- Tablets: round, almost white or white color; on the one hand – convex, with another – the surface of a tablet is slanted to risk (in blisters on 10 pieces, on 1-3, 5 blisters in a cardboard pack).
Is a part of 1 capsule:
- Active agent: loperamide – 2 mg (in the form of a hydrochloride);
- Auxiliary components: monohydrate of lactose – 127 mg, talc – 9 mg, corn starch – 40 mg, magnesium stearate – 2 mg.
Structure of the capsule:
- Case: gelatin – 28,33 mg, oxide black iron (III) (E172) – 0,12 mg, titanium dioxide – 0,35 mg;
- Lid: gelatin – 18,68 mg, oxide yellow iron (III) (E131) – 0,23 mg, blue dye (E131) – 0,03 mg, oxide black iron (III) (E172) – 0,068 mg, titanium dioxide (E171) – 0,192 mg.
Is a part of 1 tablet:
- Active agent: loperamide – 2 mg (in the form of a hydrochloride);
- Auxiliary components: monohydrate of lactose – 88,15 mg, sodium starch glycollate – 3,5 mg, a calcium hydrophosphate dihydrate – 46 mg, colloid silicon dioxide – 0,6 mg, corn starch – 8 mg, magnesium stearate – 1,75 mg.
Indications to use
- Acute and chronic diarrhea of allergic, medicinal, beam and emotional genesis (symptomatic therapy);
- The diarrhea having infectious genesis (as supportive application);
- The diarrhea connected with change of qualitative structure of food, a diet, disturbance of metabolism and absorption;
- Regulation of a chair (at an ileostoma).
Contraindications
- Intestinal impassability;
- Divertuculosis;
- Ulcer colitis (at an aggravation);
- The diarrhea connected with an acute pseudomembranous coloenteritis;
- Dysentery and other infections of digestive tract (as monotherapy);
- I trimester of pregnancy and period of a lactation;
- Age up to 6 years;
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.
At a liver failure Lopedium it is necessary to apply with care.
Route of administration and dosage
Lopedium accept inside, swallowing capsules or without chewing a tablet, and wash down with water (100 ml).
The mode of dosing is defined by age:
- Adults: an initial dose – 4 mg, then (in case of a liquid chair) accept drug on 2 mg after each act of defecation. The maximum dose – 16 mg a day;
- Children of 6 years: on 2 mg (in case of a liquid chair) after each act of defecation. The maximum dose – 6 mg a day.
In cases of lack of a chair longer 12 hours or after normalization of a chair therapy should be stopped.
Side effects
- Alimentary system: a lock, a gastralgia, intestinal colic, dryness in a mouth, vomiting, nausea; very seldom – intestinal impassability;
- Central nervous system: headache, sleeplessness or drowsiness, dizziness;
- Allergic reactions: skin rash.
Special instructions
In the absence of improvement of a state in 2 days from the moment of the beginning of reception of Lopedium it is necessary to specify the diagnosis and to exclude existence of infectious genesis of diarrhea.
In case of development of a lock or abdominal distention therapy needs to be cancelled.
Patients with functional disturbances of a liver need to control signs of toxic damage of the central nervous system carefully.
During therapy it is necessary to make up for loss of electrolytes and liquid.
Each capsule or Lopedium's tablet corresponds 0,01 GU (grain unit).
At development of dizziness or drowsiness from control of motor transport and work with mechanisms it is necessary to refrain.
Medicinal interaction
Clinically significant interactions of Lopedium with other drugs are not revealed.
Terms and storage conditions
To store in the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature up to 25 °C.
