Oftan Katakhrom
Application instruction:
Oftan Katakhrom – the combined medicine improving power metabolism of a crystalline lens; it is applied at a cataract.
Form of release and structure
Dosage form – drops eye: transparent solution of red color (on 10 ml in polyethylene bottles droppers, 1 bottle in a pack cardboard).
The active ingredients which are contained in 1 ml of solution:
- Niacinamide – 20 mg;
- Adenosine – 2 mg;
- Cytochrome C – 0,675 mg.
Additional components: water for injections, sorbitol, hydrophosphate sodium a dihydrate, succinate sodium hexahydrate, dihydrophosphate sodium a dihydrate, a benzalkoniya chloride.
Indications to use
Oftan Katakhrom – drug for treatment of a cataract of various genesis.
Contraindications
Due to the lack of data on safety and efficiency of use drug is contraindicated to appointment to patients up to 18 years.
It is not necessary to apply Oftan Katakhrom to people with the known hypersensitivity to any of the components which are its part.
Due to the lack of clinical experience of use during pregnancy and a lactation medicine can be appointed only when the expected advantage for the woman exceeds potential risks for the fruit/child.
Route of administration and dosage
Drug is appointed on 1-2 drops in a conjunctival sac of the affected eye by 3 times a day.
Before the first use of a bottle it is necessary to turn a cover, at the same time pressing it down.
Side effects
- From an organ of sight: contact dermatitis, short-term tingling and burning sensation of eyes, allergic conjunctivitis;
- System reactions: short-term short wind, dizziness, arterial hypotension and nausea; in some cases – feeling of heat and a pulsation in temples, a syncope.
Special instructions
In case of short-term irritation of eyes after an instillation it is necessary to refrain from control of the car, work with the equipment and performance of other types of the works demanding visual acuity.
During treatment it is not necessary to carry soft contact lenses as the preservative which is contained in drug can be postponed and make in them an adverse effect on tissues of eyes. Before instillation it is necessary to remove contact lenses, it is necessary to establish them not earlier than in 15 minutes again.

To store in the place, unavailable to children, with observance of temperature condition from 8 to 15 ºС.
