Pharmacological action of Smekta

Drug successfully adsorbs, and then brings toxins, pathogenic bacteriums and viruses, intestinal gases out of an organism. In indications to Smekta it is noted that thanks to the increased plasticity and viscosity, drug has the high enveloping ability. At interaction with components of slime, Smekta improves barrier function mucous, thereby protecting it from influence of various toxins, salt, bile acids and other negative factors, prevents loss by an organism of liquid and electrolytes.

Indications to Smekta's use

Drug is used at a symptomatic treatment of a peptic ulcer of digestive tract, at proyavleny the acute and chronic diarrhea (a medicinal, allergic origin; which arose owing to disturbance or change of a diet and quality of food), diarrhea of an infectious origin as a part of complex therapy.

In reviews of Smekta it is noted that drug perfectly proved as means for removal of discomfort, and also abdominal distention symptoms at gastritis, a duodenum ulcer, colitis.

The instruction to use

Drug is used in the form of aqueous solution. Before the use contents of one package of Smekta need to be dissolved in a small amount of boiled water, gradually pouring out powder and carefully mixing it. In the instruction to Smekta it is specified that the dosage of drug is calculated depending on age. For children aged up to one year the daily dosage of drug makes 3 g (1 package); aged from one up to two years daily reception of 3-6 g of drug (1-2 package) is recommended to children; is more senior than two-year age – 6-9 g (2-3 packages).

For administration of drug children are recommended to dissolve powder in water in a children's small bottle with a capacity of 50 ml, and then to add ready solution to baby food or any other liquid foodstuff.

The course of treatment drug makes from three to seven days.

Smekta's use during pregnancy and in the period of a lactation

In indications to Smekta it is told that in case of manifestation of such side effects as vomiting and the increased temperature, it is necessary to refuse further administration of drug.

Interaction with other medicines

Due to the expressed adsorbing Smekta's action, during administration of drug decrease in absorbability of other drugs from digestive tract is observed. In case of use at the same time with Smekta of other medicines, it is necessary to consider that the recommended time interval between reception of adsorbent and other drugs makes not less than 60 minutes.
