Release form, packaging and composition of Tamiflu

Drug is produced in solid gelatin capsules, with the opaque case, and also in the form of powder for suspension preparation.

Contents of 1 capsule - the white or yellowish powder containing 98,5 mg of active ingredient (an oseltamivir phosphate) and auxiliary components (K30 povidone, prezhelatinizirovanny starch, a sodium koskarmelloza, talc, sodium fumarating stearit).

Powder for preparation of suspension and intake is presented in the form of granulate of white or yellowish color with a fruit smell. One gram of medicine contains 39,4 mg of an oseltamivir of phosphate and excipients (titanium dioxide, sorbitol, sodium benzoate, monosodium citrate, sodium saccharin, permasit 11900-31 Tutti-Frutti). Ready suspension of drug contains 12 mg/ml of active ingredient.

Pharmacological action

According to the instruction, Tamiflu is pro-medicine. Its active component, an oseltamivira phosphate competitively suppresses a neuraminidase of influenza viruses of type A and B – enzyme which promotes splitting of communication between sugar and trailer sialic acid. The neuraminidase prevents oppression of a virus epithelial slime, than causes its distribution in respiratory tracts. Effect of Tamiflu and analogs of drug is based on selective suppression of a neuraminidase, growth inhibition and replication of viruses. According to Tamiflu reduces the period of displays of an infection of flu, reducing disease severity and reducing the frequency of emergence of complications of a disease (pneumonia, bronchitis, average otitis, sinusitis). Drug does not influence antibody formation after introduction of a vaccine against flu.

After Tamiflu use active ingredient of medicine of an oseltamivir phosphate is completely soaked up from digestive tract and transformed to an active metabolite thanks to influence of the esterases which are preferential, in intestines and a liver. Further transformation the active metabolite is not exposed and removed with urine.

Indications to Tamiflu use

Drug is effective at treatment of A and B flu at the adults and children who reached one-year-old age.

In addition, in responses to Tamiflu the good preventive effect of drug at the adults and teenagers who are in groups of the increased risk of infection is noted (in big collectives, in military units, at the weakened patients).

Contraindications

As contraindications to use of Tamiflu note hypersensitivity to drug components, a liver failure (chronic peritoneal dialysis, a constant hemodialysis). Treatment of Tamiflu at pregnancy, and also during breastfeeding and at children's age is not recommended.

Side effects

As side effects of careless use of Tamiflu, according to the instruction, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia, an abdominal pain are observed. From respiratory system there can be cough, bronchitis, a rhinorrhea. Disturbances in the central nervous system are characterized by a headache, dizzinesses, weakness. Side effects of use of drug for children, most often, are shown as vomiting, nasal bleedings, nausea, asthma.

According to reviews to Tamiflu at some patients cases of developing of spasms and psychoneurological disturbances were noted, however, similar symptoms were recorded also at the patients having flu not accepting Tamiflu.

Use of Tamiflu at pregnancy

Data on reception of Tamiflu at pregnancy is collected insufficiently: therefore it is necessary to appoint drug during incubation of the child and breastfeeding only if the expected effect of its use exceeds risks for fetation and health of the child.

Analogs
