Acantolysis

Acantolysis (acantholysis; Greek akantha – an edge, a thorn, an awn, a prickle + lysis – dissolution, destruction) – the degenerative change of an acanthceous layer of epidermis which is characterized by loss by cells of the most part of cytoplasm, destruction of intercellular bridges and morphological changes of kernels. The acantolysis leads to formation of bubbles.
