Heterometropia

Heterometropia (anisometropia; Greek anisos – unequal + Greek metron– a measure + opos, ops – an eye; synonym: a heterumery) – a state at which the refraction of the left and right eye is not identical.

Allocate the following types of a heterometropia:

  • (homonyma) of the same name – is characterized by various degree of the same type of a refraction of eyes;
  • Axial (axialis) – is caused by the different length of optical axes of eyes;
  • Presbyopic (presbyopica) – is caused by different extent of weakening of accommodation of eyes at elderly people;
  • Simple (simplex) – a heteronymic heterometropia at which the emmetropia of one eye and an ametropia of another is observed;
  • Simple gipermetropichesky (simplex hypermetropica) – a heterometropia simple at which the hypermetropia of one eye and an emmetropia of another is observed;
  • Simple miopichesky (simplex myopica) – a heterometropia simple at which the myopia of one eye and an emmetropia of another is observed;
  • Heteronymic (heteronyma) – is characterized by different types of a refraction;
  • Refraction (refractionis) – is caused by the different refracting force of optical system of eyes;
  • Difficult (heteronyma composita; synonyms: the heterometropia mixed an antimetropia) – a heteronymic heterometropia at which on the left and right eye different types of an ametropia are observed.
