Venereology

The field of medicine which is engaged in studying and treatment of diseases, sexually transmitted (STD, or STD – infections, sexually transmitted), is called venereology, in honor of Venus – the goddess of love in a pantheon of ancient Romans.

To venereal diseases or as it is accepted to speak now, to diseases, sexually transmitted, the infectious diseases caused by various activators (bacterial, virus, fungal, etc.) which are combined by a preferential way of transmission of infection belong. The close corporal contact with contact of fluid mediums of an organism is necessary for infection with such infections. Venereal diseases are not transmitted in the airborne way, some of STD can extend also in other ways: household (for example, household syphilis) and parenteral (HIV infection via the general syringe addicts), but nevertheless in the preferential way of transfer have sexual contact, and not necessarily genital.

Traditionally the venereology considered some diseases which of activators are authentically known that they are transferred at sexual intercourse. Now they are called classical, or traditional venereal diseases. Now the list of venereal diseases significantly extended as also other activators having preferential sexual way of transfer were revealed. In spite of the fact that activators of the majority of these diseases are rather well studied and found effective methods of treatment and/or prevention, venereal diseases have still wide circulation.

In treatment of STD early diagnosis and as soon as possible the begun treatment as in the started state most of them leads to infertility is important. It is very serious problem, considering that people of young, most active age are subject to infection with venereal infections generally. One of the most important directions of venereology is sanitary and educational activity as in time the taken measures of prevention of venereal diseases allow to avoid considerable problems with health. In the majority venereal diseases well give in to therapy, however their treatment has to be consecutive and persistent, and by all means brought to an absolute recovery.
