Виролекс – antiviral means.

Form of release and structure

Dosage forms:

• Lyophilisate for preparation of solution for infusions (in bottles of 15 ml, in a cardboard pack of 5 bottles);
• Tablets (on 10 pieces in a blister strip packaging, in a cardboard pack 2 packagings);
• Oculentum of 3% (on 4,5 g in an aluminum tuba, in a cardboard pack 1 tuba);
• Cream for external use of 5% (on 5 g in a tuba, in a cardboard pack 1 tuba).

Active ingredient – an acyclovir:

• 1 bottle with lyophilisate – 250 mg;
• 1 tablet – 200 mg;
• 1 g of an oculentum – 30 mg;
• 1 g of cream – 50 mg.

Indications to use

Lyophilisate for preparation of solution for infusions and a tablet

• The diseases caused by the type Varicella zoster and Herpes simplex 1 and 2 viruses;
• The expressed immunodeficiency at patients after transplantation of marrow and at a clinical picture of HIV infection (as a part of complex therapy);
• Prevention of viral infections of Herpes simplex and Varicella zoster, including patients with reduced immunity;
• Prevention of a Cytomegaloviral infection after transplantation of marrow.

Oculentum of 3%

Treatment of a keratitis and other diseases of the eyes caused by the Herpes simplex virus.

External use cream

The skin infections caused by the Varicella zoster and Herpes simplex viruses.

Contraindications

• Heavy renal failures;
• Hypersensitivity to an acyclovir and a valatsiklovir.

Viroleks's use at pregnancy is possible if the estimated clinical effect for mother exceeds potential threat for a fruit.

Use of lyophilisate during breastfeeding is contraindicated.

Route of administration and dosage

The dose and duration of use of Viroleks are appointed by the attending physician on the basis of clinical indications.

Lyophilisate for preparation of solution for infusions

Ready solution is entered intravenously (in/in) kapelno.

The recommended dosing:

• Patients are more senior than 12 years: drug is appointed taking into account the patient's weight from calculation for 5-10 mg to 1 kg of body weight. The daily dose for adults should not exceed 30 mg on 1 kg of weight;
• Children from 3 months to 12 years: the dose is determined depending on the surface area of a body of the child – by 250-500 mg on 1 ^sq.m;
• Newborns – on 10 mg on 1 kg of weight.

Interval between infusions – 8 hours.

In case of a renal failure the dose needs to be adjusted, considering severity of an abnormal liver function.

Tablets

Pill is taken inside.

The dosing mode for adults and children is more senior than 2 years: on 200-400 mg of 3-5 times a day, at severe forms of a disease 4 times a day can appoint a dose from calculation for 20 mg to 1 kg of weight of the patient (to 800 mg on reception).

To children up to 2 years appoint ^1/2 doses for adults.

Treatment duration – 5-10 days.

Patients with a renal failure need correction of the mode of dosing.

Oculentum of 3%

Ointment is applied locally by placement in the lower conjunctival sac of 5 times a day.

Cream for external use of 5%

Cream is applied in enough on an affected area of 5 times a day.

Side effects

• In/in introduction: nausea, vomiting, an acute renal failure, a crystalluria, an inflammation or phlebitis in an injection site, encephalopathy in the form of drowsiness, confusion of consciousness, excitement, hallucinations, spasms, a tremor, psychosis, a coma;
• Intake: abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, skin rash, dizziness, headache, decrease in concentration of attention, increased fatigue, hallucinations, sleeplessness or drowsiness, fever; seldom – a hair loss, a leukopenia, an erythropenia, a lymphocytopenia, passing increase in level of content of urea, bilirubin, creatinine in blood, activities of liver enzymes;
• Use of an oculentum: a burning sensation when drawing, conjunctivitis, a dot superficial keratitis, a blepharitis;
• External use of cream: a skin itch, rash, a xeroderma, the burning sensation in the place of application, a peeling, an erythema is possible; at hit on mucous membranes – an inflammation.

Special instructions

During Viroleks's use in the form of lyophilisate and tablets it is necessary to consider a possibility of development of an acute renal failure against the background of formation of a crystal deposit of an acyclovir, especially at bystry in introduction, insufficient water loading, simultaneous therapy by nephrotoxic means, at patients with functional disorder of kidneys.

Use of an acyclovir needs to be accompanied with control of function of kidneys with regular determination of level of creatinine in a blood plasma and an urea nitrogen in blood.

Patients of advanced age need careful observation of the doctor and plentiful drink during treatment as at this category of patients the elimination half-life of an acyclovir increases.

Patients with genital herpes need to refrain from sexual contacts or to use reliable barrier methods of contraception not to allow infection with a virus of the partner.

External use cream cannot be applied on mucous membranes of eyes, oral cavities, vaginas.

Medicinal interaction

Simultaneous use of Viroleks with probenetsidy leads to decrease in canalicular secretion of an acyclovir, causing increase in the period of its semi-removal and level of concentration in a blood plasma.

At a combination to nephrotoxic means the risk of development of nephrotoxic action, especially at patients with an impaired renal function increases.

At the accompanying therapy by immunostimulators action of an acyclovir amplifies.

When mixing solutions for in/in introductions it is necessary to consider that alkali reaction of an acyclovir рН 11.

Terms and storage conditions

To store in the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature up to 25 °C.

Period of validity – 5 years.

Ready infusion solution can be used within 12 hours (to store at a temperature not above 25 °C, not to place in the refrigerator).
