Colm
Application instruction:
Colm – drug for treatment of alcohol addiction.
Form of release and structure
Dosage form – the drops for intake representing the transparent colourless solution possessing a slight smell of acetic acid (on 15 ml in dark glass ampoules, on 4 ampoules complete with a bottle dropper in the plastic pallet, 1 pallet in a pack cardboard).
Active ingredient: cyanamide, in 1 drop – 3 mg, in 1 ml – 60 mg.
Additional components: sodium acetate, glacial acetic acid, sorbic acid, water for injections.
Indications to use
Colm – drug for treatment of an alcoholism and prevention of its recurrence after therapy.
Contraindications
Absolute:
- Diseases of kidneys with disturbance of their function;
- Diseases of respiratory system;
- Serious illness of a liver;
- Serious cardiovascular illness;
- Pregnancy and lactation;
- Hypersensitivity to drug.
In the following cases Colm it is necessary to apply with care:
- Epilepsy;
- Diabetes mellitus;
- Hyperthyroidism;
- Diseases of kidneys;
- Diseases of cardiovascular system.
Route of administration and dosage
Colm it is necessary to accept inside.
Drug is appointed till 12-25 drops (36-75 mg) by 2 times a day with 12-hour intervals according to the individual scheme.
For convenience of dosing an ampoule it is necessary to open, pour out solution in the bottle enclosed in a set and to put on a dropper. At storage the bottle needs to be closed densely.
Side effects
Colm it is usually transferred well if the patient does not take alcoholic beverages. In rare instances there are a sonitus, drowsiness, feeling of fatigue, rash on skin, a tranzitorny leukocytosis.
In case of a concomitant use of alcohol development of the following reactions is possible: feeling of a pulsation in a neck and the head, a sight illegibility, the expressed hyperemia of integuments, tachycardia, weakness, the increased sweating, breath difficulty, a stethalgia, in hard cases – respiratory depression, vomiting, a lowering of arterial pressure, a kollaptoidny state. Types of manifestations and severity of reactions depend on a dose Colm and amounts of the accepted alcohol. In hard cases intravenous administration of antihistamines and performing the symptomatic therapy directed to maintenance of function of cardiovascular and respiratory systems is shown.
Special instructions
Colm it can be applied only after careful inspection of the patient.
Each patient to whom appoint drug has to be warned about possible effects and complications of the carried-out therapy.
Medicinal interaction
Cyanamide is incompatible with drugs of aldehydic group (paraldehyde and products of a hloral).
To patients who underwent therapy using Disulfiramum Colm it can be appointed at least in 10 days after his cancellation.
Simultaneous use of Phenytoinum, isoniazid, metronidazole and other inhibitors of an aldegiddegidrogenaza can lead to strengthening of reaction to alcohol intake therefore such combinations are recommended to be avoided.
Terms and storage conditions
To store in the place protected from light and unavailable to children. Not to exceed temperature of 25 °C.
Period of validity – 2 years.
