Genferon

Genferon – local and system immunomodulatory drug of antioxidant, immunomodulatory, mestnoanesteziruyushchy and antiviral action.

Form of release and structure

Genferon release in the form of suppositories: a cylindrical form with the pointed end, homogeneous structure, from color, white to white with a yellow shade, existence of funneled deepening or a hollow core on a cut is possible (on 5 pieces in a blister strip packaging, in a cardboard pack 1 or 2 packagings).

Content of active components is 1 suppositories:

• Interferon human recombinant alfa-2 – 250 thousand, 500 thousand or 1 million ME;
• Taurine – 10 mg;
• Benzocaine – 55 mg.

Excipients: a dextran 60000, the twin-80, sodium citrate, poly(ethylene oxide) 1500, citric acid, T2 emulsifier, solid fat, the water purified.

Indications to use

Genferon's use is shown as a part of complex treatment of such diseases / states:

• Acute bronchitis;
• Infectious and inflammatory diseases of an urogenital path: clamidiosis, genital herpes, the ureaplasmosis recuring vaginal candidiasis, mycoplasmosis, a bacterial vaginosis, a human papillomavirus infection, a trichomoniasis, a bacterial vaginosis, an erosion of a neck of uterus, a vulvovaginitis, a cervicitis, a bartholinitis, an adnexitis, prostatitis, an urethritis, a balanitis, a balanoposthitis;
• Chronic recurrent cystitis of a bacterial etiology.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to components of drug is the only contraindication to its use.

With care appoint Genferon sick at allergic or autoimmune diseases in an aggravation stage.

Route of administration and dosage

Genferon apply intravaginalno and/or rektalno:

• Infectious and inflammatory diseases of an urogenital path of men: rektalno, on 1 suppository (depending on weight of a state 500000 or 1000000 ME), 2 times a day for 10 days;
• Infectious and inflammatory diseases of an urogenital path of women: rektalno or intravaginalno (depending on the nature of a disease), on 1 suppository 250000, 500000 or 1000000 ME (depending on weight of a state) 2 times a day, within 10 days daily. In case of long diseases 3 times a week on 1 suppository (every other day), duration – 1-3 months. For therapy of the expressed infectious and inflammatory process in a vagina – 1 suppository 500000 ME intravaginalno in the morning and 1 suppository 1000000 ME rektalno for the night, at the same time it is necessary to enter suppository with antibacterial/fungicidal agents into a vagina;
• Normalization of indicators of local immunity at women on durations of gestation of 13-40 weeks at therapy of infectious and inflammatory diseases of an urogenital path: on 1 suppository 250000 ME intravaginalno 2 times a day, within 10 days daily;
• Chronic recurrent cystitis (as a part of complex therapy) at adults: in case of an aggravation – in a combination to a standard course of antibacterial therapy on 1 suppository 1000000 ME rektalno 2 times a day within 10 days, further – every other day, within 40 days, in the same dose for the purpose of prevention of a recurrence;
• Acute bronchitis (as a part of complex therapy) at adults: on 1 suppository 1000000 ME rektalno 2 times a day within 5 days.

Side effects

Use of drug can cause development of allergic reactions in the form of an itch, skin rash, a burning sensation in a vagina. Side effects have reversible character and after cancellation or a dose decline pass within 72 hours.

Temperature increase after administration of drug is possible.

At a daily dose of 10 million ME the probability of the following side effects is high:

• From the hemopoietic system: thrombocytopenia, leukopenia;
• From the central nervous system: headache;
• Others: the increased sweating, fever, appetite loss, weakness, mialgiya, arthralgias.

Special instructions

Use of means in II and the III trimester of pregnancy is allowed if the expected advantage for mother prevails over potential risk for a fruit.

For an exception of urogenital reinfection simultaneous treatment of the sexual partner is recommended.

Use of drug in the period of periods is possible.

Medicinal interaction

Genferon's efficiency increases at simultaneous use with antimicrobic means for treatment of urogenital infections and antibiotics.

Effect of interferon is strengthened by vitamins E and C.

Effect of benzocaine raises a combination with antikholinesterazny and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Benzocaine inhibits antibacterial activity of streptocides.

Terms and storage conditions

To protect from children. To store at a temperature from 2 to 8 °C.

Period of validity – 2 years.
