Useful properties of walnut

Curative properties of walnut were known for a long time and many of them are described in ancient works of healers Hippocrates and Avicenna. In east medicine appreciate walnut property to strengthen heart, to improve brain activity and memory, and also to clear a liver. In traditional medicine nuts long since apply at treatment of diseases of kidneys, tuberculosis and indigestion, and leaves of a plant use as effective wound healing remedy.

Thanks to the chemical composition walnuts take off fatigue and strengthen muscles, improve memory and protect from radiation, reduce irritability and uneasiness, promote improvement of nutritiousness of milk at nursing mothers and raise hemoglobin. Besides in a nut kernel there is practically no gluten capable to cause an allergy.

The magnesium which is contained in nuts having vasodilating and diuretic properties allows to use them for lowering of arterial pressure, and iodine does walnuts useful at diseases of a thyroid gland.

In traditional medicine widely apply not only nuts, but also tree leaves, thanks to the essential oils which are in them, aldehydes, acids, carotene, vitamin C and alkaloids. Most often they are used for treatment of an intestinal dysbiosis, disturbances of a menstrual cycle, gout and rheumatism, and broth from partitions of walnut is very useful at diseases of a thyroid gland and a mastopathy.

Use of walnut

For saturation of an organism useful vitamins and microelements, and also for the prevention of development of many heart diseases and diabetes, recommend to include regularly in the diet from one to three walnuts a day.

Walnut as polyvitaminic means is especially useful to the weakened children, nursing mothers, pregnant women and elderly people. At the same time, for preservation of quality of the antioxidants which are its part, it is the best of all to eat nuts crude, without subjecting to heat treatment.

For prevention of various diseases it is possible to use walnut in combination with other products. So, nuts with raisin are effective for strengthening of a cardiac muscle, for increase in immunity it is the best of all to eat nuts with honey, and for prevention of atherosclerosis make the following medicine: mix ten nut kernels with a spoon of sunflower or olive oil and two segments of garlic.

At a mastopathy it is possible to use tincture from partitions of walnuts. For its preparation partitions from twenty nuts insist on 100 g of vodka within ten days then they accept till 15-20 drops three times a day not less than two months. This tincture can be used also for improvement of a hormonal background.

Oil of walnut is recommended at diabetes, a hypertension, diseases of kidneys, a thyroid gland and liver, otitises and colitis. The main feature of external use of oil is its ability to recover and support full exchange in skin tissues that allows to use it at treatment of eczema, tuberculosis cutis, herpeses, burns, long not healing wounds and erysipelatous inflammations.

In cosmetology walnuts oil is applied to the dry and withering skin as it possesses the toning and rejuvenating action.

Contraindications

At all useful properties of nuts it is necessary to know that in day they should be eaten from three to eight pieces, and in a large number walnuts are harmful and can cause vasospasms and an inflammation of almonds. Besides, the excessive use of nuts can cause an allergy which is shown as stomatitis and urticaria. Also walnuts are harmful at colitis, coloenterites, eczema and various skin diseases therefore they are recommended to be included with care in the diet.
