Meksidol

Meksidol – the antioxidant drug used for the purpose of improvement of brain metabolism and blood supply of a brain for stopping of an abstinence syndrome, and also at acute pyoinflammatory processes of an abdominal cavity.

Pharmacological action

Meksidol has antioxidant (protects cells from excess oxidation), membranoprotektorny (promotes recovery of lipids of cellular membranes), anti-hypoxemic (increases portability fabrics or organisms in general of a lack of oxygen), nootropic (exerts the activating impact on cerebration, memory, ability to training), anxiolytic (selectively quashes sensation of fear, alarms, concerns), anticonvulsant and hypolipidemic (regulates cholesterol level) properties.

Meksidol's use promotes increase in resistance of an organism to stressful situations and influence of other disturbing factors to which it is possible to carry ischemia, a hypoxia, shock, intoxication alcohol, disturbance of cerebral circulation.

As responses testify, Meksidol included in complex treatment of patients who transferred an acute form of disturbance of cerebral circulation sposobstvovut to decrease in intensity of symptoms of an ischemic stroke and increase in resistance to air hunger.

Meksidol's use at acute pancreatitis allows to reduce endogenous intoxication.

Drug helps to weaken toxic effect of alcohol and neuroleptics, and also to stop an acute narcotic abstinence syndrome.

Indications to Meksidol's use

Meksidol the instruction recommends to apply at:

• acute disorder of cerebral circulation;
• neurocirculatory and vegeto-vascular dystonia;
• distsirkulyatorny encephalopathy;
• atherosclerotic disturbances of functions of a brain;
• the alarming frustration accompanying neurosis-like and neurotic states;
• acute intoxication neuroleptics;
• abstinence syndrome at alcoholism when in a clinical picture neurotic and vegeto-vascular frustration prevail;
• acute pyoinflammatory processes of an abdominal cavity (peritonitis, pancreatonecrosis, pancreatitis);
• state, followed by a hypoxia of fabrics;
• influence of extreme factors.

Contraindications

Meksidol is not appointed at acute disorders of function of kidneys and a liver, and also at hypersensitivity to drug components.

During pregnancy and during feeding by a breast the instruction does not recommend to apply Meksidol as the clinical trials confirming safety of drug were not carried out.

Application instruction of Meksidol

Meksidol, indications define the choice of a dosage form: is issued in the form of the tablets containing 125 mg of oxymethylethylpyridine of succinate and also in the form of solution for injections which 1 ml contains 50 mg of active ingredient.

Meksidol tablets are intended for intake. The therapeutic dose and duration of use of Meksidol is defined by the doctor, proceeding their sensitivity of the patient to drug.

In most cases treatment with drug is begun with the quantity equal to 125-250 mg (1-2 tablets Meksidol), gradually raising a dose until the desirable effect is gained. In days it is not necessary to take more than 6 pill (800 mg). As a rule, Meksidol a pill is taken within 2-6 weeks. When stopping the abstinence syndrome accompanying alcoholism, drug is recommended to be accepted for 5-7 days. Meksidol's use should be stopped gradually, reducing amount of drug within 2-3 days.

Solution Meksidol, indications define a route of administration, can be entered intramusculary or intravenously. The infusional way of introduction assumes cultivation of drug in isotonic NaCl solution. Jet administration of drug has to happen slowly – not less than 5-7 minutes, for a drop way the recommended rate of administering makes 40-60 drops a minute.

Despite indications, Meksidola the daily dose should not be more than 1200 mg.

Treatment of acute disorders of cerebral circulation is made according to the following scheme: the first 10-14 days 2-4 times a day on 200-500 mg which are entered intravenously kapelno; the next 14 days – 2-3 times a day on 200-250 mg which should be entered intramusculary. Meksidol responses characterize the scheme of such use of drug as effective.

Side effects

Meksidol responses and the instruction refer dryness in a mouth to undesirable effects of use of drug, nausea, allergic reactions.

Additional information

According to the instruction, Meksidol does not demand special storage conditions, rather dark and dry place in which air temperature does not rise ^{higher than 250C}. Performance of this condition will allow to preserve therapeutic properties of Meksidol within three years.
