Nurofen

Nurofen – the medicine relating to group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NPVS).

Pharmacological action of the Nurofen

Active agent as a part of the Nurofen – an ibuprofen, derivative of fenilpropionovy acid. At intake suppresses formation of prostaglandins - the substances causing inflammatory reaction in a human body (so-called mediators of an inflammation) at the expense of what there is an antiinflammatory, anesthetizing and febrifugal effect.

There are reviews of the Nurofen from researchers indicating stimulation of production of own interferon of an organism by it, the substance which is one of major factors of immunity. Thus, one of additional actions of an ibuprofen – immunity stimulation that does use of the Nurofen justified at treatment of viral infections.

Release forms

The nurofen is issued in the form of the tablets covered with a sugar cover, sparkling tablets, rectal suppositories and suspension for children with a strawberry or orange flavor.

Structure of the Nurofen in tablets: each tablet, coated, contains 200 mg of an ibuprofen and excipients: sucrose, talc, silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide, stearic acid, опакод, gum, croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium citrate, macrogoal 6000.

Tablets are issued on 6 and 12 pieces in the blister.

Structure of the Nurofen in sparkling tablets: 200 mg of an ibuprofen and excipients: sucrose, saccharin, sorbitol, potassium carbonate, citric acid, sodium saccharinate.

Sparkling tablets are issued in tubas on 10 pieces.

Structure of the Nurofen in the form of suspension: contains 100 mg of an ibuprofen on 5 ml of suspension, and also excipients: water, глицерол, syrup of a maltitol, citric acid, sodium citrate, sodium chloride, sodium saccharinate, gum, bromide of a domifen, strawberry or orange fragrance.

Rectal suppositories Nurofen, structure: an ibuprofen of 60 mg, excipient – solid fat. About 5 pieces in the blister, 2 blisters in packaging are produced.

Suspension of the Nurofen is produced in the polyethylene bottles of 100 ml supplied with the mechanism of protection against children, the special doser by means of which suspension is extracted from a bottle is included in the package.

Nurofen analogs

Indications to use

Use of the Nurofen is shown at treatment of diseases of rheumatic character, and also for removal of an inflammation, heat and pain. It is used as a part of complex therapy for treatment of the following states:

• Pseudorheumatism;
• Rheumatism;
• Spondylitis and spondylarthritis, including ankylosing;
• Osteoarthroses;
• Gout;
• Bursitis;
• Miozita;
• Radiculitises;
• Neuritis;
• Neuralgia;
• Mialgiya;
• Intensive pain syndrome at injuries of any origin and posttraumatic states;
• Algodismenorey;
• Dentagra;
• Headache;
• The seasonal viral infectious diseases which are followed by a febricula, fever and an ache in muscles and joints;
• The diseases of ENT organs and other inflammatory diseases which are followed by an intensive pain syndrome.

According to responses, the Nurofen in pediatric practice is effective as an antipyretic at catarrhal diseases and the fever caused by a teething.

Application instruction of the Nurofen

Use of the Nurofen depends on age of the patient.

The daily dose of drug for persons is more senior than 12 years makes 1200 mg. It is desirable to break a daily dose into 3-4 receptions, usually on 200 mg on reception (is possible less), in case of emergency and with the consent of the doctor the single dose at the beginning of therapy can be brought to 400 mg.

According to the instruction the Nurofen to children aged from 6 up to 12 years is appointed in a dosage no more than 200 mg 3-4 times a day. Between administrations of drug the time interval is necessary not less than 6 hours. The most admissible daily dose of 900 mg.

Following the instruction of the Nurofen, the tablets covered with a sugar cover it is desirable to accept after food, plentifully washing down with water. Sparkling tablets dissolve in a glass of water volume 200-250ml.

The nurofen in suppositories is issued for children aged from 3 months up to 2 years, the single dose is established from calculation 5-10mg on 1 kg of weight of the child, 3-4 times a day are accepted. The most admissible daily dose is defined at the rate of 30 mg on 1 kg of weight of the child.

According to the instruction, the Nurofen in suspension is recommended in the following dosage:

• From 3 to 6 months – 2,5ml to 3 times a day;
• From 6 to 12 months – 2,5ml 3-4 times a day;
• From 1 year to 3 years – 5 ml 3 times a day;
• From 4 to 6 years – 7,5ml 3-4 times a day;
• From 7 to 9 years – 10 ml 3 times a day;
• From 10 to 12 years – 15 ml 3 times a day.

The instruction of the Nurofen contains the instruction on inadmissibility of independent use of drug for treatment lasting over 3 days. If later the 3rd days after the beginning of use of the Nurofen symptoms of a disease did not decrease, it is necessary to call the doctor who will make recommendations of rather further use of drug.

Side effects

Reviews of the Nurofen from outside of both doctors, and patients demonstrate that at use strictly according to the instruction it is transferred well, and side effects after its use happen seldom. The following side effects of drug are known:

• The alimentary system – the dyspepsia phenomena, a loss of appetite, at prolonged use the Nurofen promotes emergence of erosion and ulcerations of a mucous membrane of digestive tract;
• The central nervous system - a headache, psychomotor excitement, dizziness, a sleep disorder;
• Cardiovascular system - disturbance of a cordial rhythm, short wind, a hypertension, is rare – heart failure;
• Immune system - skin and allergic reactions in the form of a small tortoiseshell, a mnogoformny exudative erythema, a Quincke's disease, a bronchospasm, it is rare – a Lyell's disease;
• System of urination - disturbance of renal function, a polyuria, nephrite, cystitis;
• From blood: anemia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia.

Contraindications to use of the Nurofen

The nurofen and analogs are contraindicated in the following cases:

• Inflammatory diseases of digestive tract, especially peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum;
• Blood diseases;
• Hypersensitivity to any NPVS;
• Aspirinovy triad;
• Hypertension;
• Abnormal liver function, kidneys;
• Ophthalmologic pathology;
• Pathology of a middle and inner ear;
• Age up to 3 months;
• 3rd trimester of pregnancy;
• Breastfeeding.

According to the instruction, the Nurofen and analogs with care combine with other drugs, without appointment of the doctor of it it is not recommended to do. Unacceptably joint use of this drug and alcohol.

Rules of storage

The nurofen is stored out of access of direct light, in the dry place, at the room temperature (which is not exceeding 25 °C) within 3 years. To protect from children.
