Софрадекс – antibiotic drug of a broad spectrum of activity.
Pharmacological action of Sofradeks
Drug has pronounced bactericidal effect. Софрадекс contains Dexamethasone, Neomycinum, Gramicidin thanks to what makes active impact on gram-positive microorganisms, including on golden staphylococcus, a dysenteric stick, colibacillus. In the instruction to Sofradeks it is noted that drug малоактивен concerning streptococci, does not make impact on anaerobic microflora, mushrooms, viruses. Dexamethasone actively influences course of carbohydrate and protein metabolism, makes antiinflammatory and antiallergic impact, thereby reduces such symptoms as an itch, pain, dacryagogue. Neomycinum and Gramicidin possess bactericidal action, interfere with reproduction of gram-positive microorganisms.
Release form
Софрадекс produce in the form of ointment in tubes 5 g, in the form of drops in bottles on 10 ml.
Sofradeks route of administration
In the form of ointment drug is used for treatment of eye diseases of the adult and to children in a small amount twice a day. In case of use of a drop form use of ointment for the night is possible. Use of drug in the form of ointment successfully practices at treatment of diseases of an ear (one-two times during the day). Drops for eyes accept one-two drops in each eye to six times a day, and in case of need and more often. Ear drops dig in three-four times a day two-three drops. In reviews of Sofradeksa it is told that drug needs to be used only after establishment of the diagnosis by the attending physician and an exception of fungal or virus infection of affected bodies.
Drug is used within a week, except cases of positive dynamics of a disease. The course of use of drug is repeated only on doctor's orders.
Indications to Sofradeks's use
Софрадекс apply at treatment of infectious diseases to which the bacterial infections of eyes burdened by the expressed inflammatory and allergic manifestations, barley, a blepharitis (an inflammation of edges a century), the infected eczema a century, a keratitis, a sclerite (an inflammation of an opaque cover of an eye), acute and chronic otitis (an inflammation of a middle ear), allergic conjunctivitis belong.
Side effects
In reviews of Sofradeksa it is told that use of drug can be followed by such side effects as: a cataract (the disease leading to an eye phacoscotasmus), burning, an itch, a skin inflammation; at prolonged use of Sofradeks perhaps gradual reduction of thickness of covers of an eye (thinning of a cornea), increase in intraocular pressure.
Contraindications
In the instruction to Sofradeks it is noted that drug has the whole list of contraindications to which fungus and viral diseases, a purulent inflammation of eyes, tuberculosis, increase in intraocular pressure (glaucoma), immunity or hypersensitivity belong to Sofradeks's components.
It is necessary to remember that the Neomycinum component having ototoxicity enters into composition of drug and Sofradeks's analogs. Therefore it is not excluded that Sofradeks's use can lead to damages of acoustic organs. It is necessary to observe precautionary measures at purpose of drug to children of chest and younger age.
When using drug and Sofradeks's analogs it is necessary to refrain from driving, and also the work with mechanisms demanding the increased visual concentration.
Use at pregnancy and in the period of a lactation
Safety of use of Sofradeks during pregnancy and during feeding by a breast is experimentally not confirmed.
