Description:
Retinitis — an inflammatory disease of a retina. Often in connection with involvement in process and an idiovascular cover of an eye (horioidea) proceeds in the form of a chorioretinitis.
Retinitis symptoms:
Decrease in visual acuity is clinically observed first of all. Quite often patients complain of the distorted visual perception of objects, and also abnormal light feelings in eyes in the form of gloss, lightnings, sparks, etc.
Retinitis reasons:
Emergence of a retinitis is often connected with a hematogenous drift in a retina from the extra eye centers of streptococci, stafilokokk, pneumococci and other microorganisms, and also their toxins that can be observed at chronic heart diseases, kidneys, a liver, a brain and other bodies. In some cases the retinitis has a virus etiology (for example, at flu, a herpes infection). Quite often the retinitis arises at tuberculosis, toxoplasmosis, syphilis, etc. Sometimes development of a retinitis is caused by impact of ionizing radiation, and also eye injuries with injuries of a retina. Traditionally refer the damage of a retina caused by long action on eyes of a direct sunlight to a retinitis.
Treatment of the Retinitis:
Ophthalmologic inspection and complex treatment is carried out preferential in a hospital. The antiinflammatory therapy including use of antibiotics is shown (locally, inside or parenterally). At establishment of the virus nature of a retinitis appoint antiviral means. Locally apply corticosteroids, use spasmolytic and vasodilators, and also the drugs increasing metabolism of a retina (vitamins D, E, groups B, solkoserit, etc.).
